Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) is a leading research institution with 15 departments and central institutes offering over 150 degree programs across a wide range of subjects. It is one of the German universities that were successful in all three funding lines in the federal and state Excellence Initiative, thereby receiving additional funding for its institutional future development strategy: the international network university. FUB has well respected Focus Areas such as the Dahlem Center of Plant Sciences. These Focus Areas offer an interdisciplinary environment of academic excellence. Furthermore, with more than 100 international partnerships, along with 339 university partnerships within the Erasmus academic exchange network and 45 institute partnerships, the research activities and academic life at FUB are strongly international. More than 6,800 scientists from 130 different countries are currently involved in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies and in teaching activities at FUB.
